Body Shots... NOT what you're thinking...

Beau got a bath and he's wet in the photos. I imagine that because of that the depth perception and his actual condition are skewed. But you can imagine what he will look like in just a few months. He still needs a LOT of weight on his topline and hindend - hips and legs. His tail got braided, the mud got washed off his back WITH SOAP, AND...I taped him. He's 14 hands, give or take. He's eaten 160 punds of feed in 9 days, almost 20 pounds a day. He started the feed through daily wormer, and will start the probiotic when it gets here.

Studiously ignoring "His Woman"

Throwing a snarl in Squirrel's general direct.

Oh my gosh is that even the same horse! He has put on so much weight! He is still very skinny, but compared to the "before" pictures, he is looking fabulous!! He is so lucky to have you! Gosh, I wish you had a vet scale at your place and could have weighed him when he got there. Just out of curiosity- did you weight tape him when you got him? I wonder how many pounds he has put on- I bet close to 75 pounds!

Okay maybe even more than 75 pounds now that I go and look again. I bet closer to 100 or maybe more. And look! He actually is starting to get a butt and some leg muscle again!! WOW! I am just WOWED!

Amazing what proper care and food will do to a horse huh?! He is going to be drop dead gorgeous by the time you are through. Do you know if you will be keeping for good, or if you'll be looking for an adopter?

OMG WOW what a difference!!!!

He looks so much better and the pic with him throwing Squirrel a snarl proves he's obviously feeling better too.

Well done and yes, he's going to be drop dead gorgeous when he's back to 'normal'.

ktibb - I will be rehoming/adopting him. I would prefer a non-riding home. I guess I just don't want a family with a mob of kids running all over on him. I guess I feel be deserves a break from that.

But I have several months to think about and find out if he's even going to be sound for riding.

If anyone is looking for a nice sound sweet horse, Thai is available. I blogged about her here last December. If you might be interest in Thai, contact me or Cathy.

I'm really thinking about adoption. My mare could really use a buddy, and ideally it would be a babysitter type that my husband would feel safe on. I ride my mare all over our property, and he will too so long as I'm leading her, lol. My aunt/neighbor thinks we should just breed her mare and I could keep the foal... so I'm trying to convince her that breeding for just a pasture buddy/trail horse is not a good idea right now. As much as I love her mare, it just wouldn't be right.

Contact Cathy (or me) privately.

Thai would be AWESOME! When Cathy got on her for the first time is Lord knows how long, Thai didn't even flinch. And she's a good size mare that could easily pack your husband. I think Beau is too little.
