Quick Saturday Update

The farrier comes this morning. He's putting shoes on Angel, Squirrel and Jazzy. Jazzy hoof has a huge chunk out of the side...looks to me like she needs bond-o to fix it. Seth is magic with a rasp though, so he'll have her fixed up in a hurry! Thai and Classy will get trimmed.

Steve - the $690,000 property behind me... I don't have all the details but I heard the "F" word happens at the end of June. The "F" word being foreclosure. Again... no details. All you'd have to do is add a couple of loafing sheds, which would create a vacuum, which in turn you'd have to fill with a really great rescue from SOS Equine! Or TB Friends! OR.. Or..

Barb O - You write code, right? Anyway you could telecommute?

Yesterday we pulled weeds and weed-whacked 600 feet of the back fence. The back of my very out of shape legs are sore. The day promises to be beautiful and a trail ride in the Wallula Gap is in order after the shoes get put on. I'll even get to wear my new boots!

Nikki - Honey is fat. LOL! She's such a "Super Model" and I always worry about her weight. Turn her out on pasture and she puffs up.

Hanging in there... Keeping busy. The barn is WAY too quiet at feeding time.

I went for a ride on Angel today. Had a BLAST, even if she DID beat me up!

Now that's funny. Like I need more mouths to feed. I can barely stay up with the perfect OTTB. He's now costing me money just to find out he's ok but lost weight. Let's see..

5 flakes of hay daily.
10 lbs of Equine Senior
2 cups of corn oil @ $10 a gallon (and I thought gas was expensive)
Min of 1 hour of free grazing on grass daily... Who can afford a house?

BTW.. The latest listing is $625,000. That's less that what the county asses it at ($686,700), not good. The original place cost $323K in 2003. It almost doubled in price between 2008 ($365k) & 2009 ($686k). I guess doubling your taxes hurts. I see the F word coming.

I really found a perfect setup I like in Ellensburg. It's in the middle of hay country. You can literally walk across the street for hay. Has irrigation. Very tempting.

How are the steeds doing?

The place next to my friend's Thoroughbred farm in Ellensburg got foreclosed and I think they want about $350K for it...20 acres with a newer house. Just needs a barn, but has some fencing up. You'd have lots of TB eye candy next door!

I can't wait to see baby moose pics, Karen! And new ones of Miss Thai.
